I develop and support projects that bring unheard voices into the conversation, preserve histories that might otherwise be lost, and help organisations understand and respond to the people and communities they serve.

Apartheid and Me
in the Primary School Curriculum
A project bringing the history and lived experience of Apartheid South Africa into primary education, giving children the opportunity to learn, question and engage with history through the voice of someone who lived through it.
For teachers and schools exploring Apartheid and Me
One of the things I wanted to do with Apartheid and Me was to create something that could open conversations about apartheid through lived experience — including the experience of a child.
Alongside the book, I have developed a Teacher Resource Pack to help teachers, parents and educators explore the themes further with children.
It provides an opportunity to discuss lived history, racial classification, equality, human rights and the ways in which laws and social practices can affect ordinary families and children.
I would particularly welcome conversations with schools and educators who are interested in bringing lived history into the classroom.

I Protect Me
I Protect Me (IPM) empowers women and children in South Africa to speak out and stand up against abuse. Founded by me in 2013, IPM has reached more than a million vulnerable people in schools and communities. Although I have stepped down as a Trustee, I continue to support the organisation as an ambassador.
